Fred Wise, 81, of Hazleton, Ind., passed away on Wednesday morning, May 17, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Ind. He was born on January 2, 1936 to Jerauld “Doc” Wise and Marie (Robling) Wise. He married Beverly (Coomer) Wise on April 27, 1957. A graduate of Princeton High School in 1954, he was a lifelong resident of Gibson County, Ind., residing in Princeton and Hazleton. Fred will be greatly missed by those who knew him best, his close family and friends. Fred was a skilled craftsman who worked at Hansen Manufacturing for 55 years. He began as a machine operator in 1954 and, after completing an apprenticeship, became a Tool & Die Maker. Fred was the Tool Room Supervisor at Hansen for 27 years and retired in 2009 at the age of 73. In his free time Fred enjoyed classic country music, gospel music, and taking bus trips to various places to pursue his interests. Fred also greatly enjoyed dining at restaurants, spending time with, and enjoying the company of, close family and friends. Fred had a strong faith in God and attended Bethel Memorial Church in Princeton. A devoted family man, Fred always put others’ needs before his own and made many personal sacrifices over the years to help his family in any way he could, for which they are greatly appreciative.

Fred was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Beverly Wise, in 2006, an infant son, Russell Wise in 1965, his father, Doc Wise, in 1994, his mother, Marie Wise, in 1984, and his sister, Bonnie Beck in 2002.

Fred is survived by his two sons, Richard “Rick” of Hazleton, and Ron (Robin), his twin brother, Jerry (Sue), a brother, Tom (Glenda) and his very special friend, Mary Phillips, all of Princeton, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces & nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Colvin Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Kevin Wilson. Friends may call for visitation from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Colvin Funeral Home. Burial will be at Columbia “White” Church Cemetery in Princeton. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5250 Vogel Road, Evansville, Ind. 47715 or at www.cancer.org. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
