I knew the message of John's taking leave would come soon. I had a small reunion with Ann Whiting Wirey this summer... Still, when the time comes, the death of someone one has known for almost eighty years, is a sobering event. I knew John and his family from the time we were about six years old. I met Ellen when I was in junior high. Over the years when I no longer lived in the Mt Olympus - Hazelton area, I kept in touch through Ann. My own mother was friends with June. So much time and so many connections, especially back in earlier times...
Thank you so very much for the memory video. This was one of the best I have experienced. I have the high school picture of John in my old photo album. What a handsome young man! Star quality!
I spoke with John and Ellen at Gary Wirey's visitation at Colvin's a few years back. So glad I had that opportunity.
This then, is my farewell to both John and Ellen. They were wonderful friends and heads of an obviously wonderful family. Your remembrances of them are your treasure.

I have great memories of John when I was in the Assessor's office.
He would have his graphs, and Ellen would have her history stories. What a
