Rev. Robert Wesley Winkel, 79, of Somerville, Indiana, went to be with his Lord & Savior on December 28, 2017. He was born in Shoals, IN on February 5, 1938 to Elmer and Evelyn (Allbright) Winkel. Bob was a devoted pastor for many years, serving in several Pilgrim Holiness and Wesleyan churches throughout Southern Indiana. He was also employed by Winkel Chevyland/Allbright Chevrolet as a skilled auto-mechanic and shop foreman for many years. Bob was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who loved his family unconditionally! He enjoyed gardening, traveling, hunting and raising rabbits. He was a “jack-of-all-trades”, there wasn’t much he couldn’t do for someone who needed his help.

Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife, Norma, his parents, his sister, Karen Winkel and a brother-in-law, Kenny Bays.

He is survived by three brothers, Wilson (Jane) Winkel of Jasper, Daniel (Melba) Winkel of Elnora and Jack (Jill) Winkel of Plainville and one sister, Diana Bays of Elnora. Also, surviving are his five children, Marilyn (Kent) Doerner, David (Connie) Winkel of Somerville, Becky (Mark) Wright of Francisco, Mark (Pam) Winkel of Princeton and Madonna (Duane) Smith of Somerville, his eight grandchildren, Kendra (Jeff) Buchanan, Kayla (John) Parke, Megan (Brad) Heichelbech, Karissa Doerner, Tierney Wright, Tristan Smith, Amber (Andy) Burkett and Brian (Lora) Dickman. Great-grandchildren include, Alexis, Drake and Gauge Buchanan, Levi Parke, Bradley, Rochelle and Wesley Heichelbech, Kadence Doerner, Ava and Aly Burkett, Aria and Alex Dickman. He also leaves behind many special nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City, with Brother Bob England officiating. Burial will follow at Albright Cemetery near Mackey. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday and again from 8 a.m. until the hour of service on Thursday at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home.
