Thelma “Jean” Meade, 95, of Princeton, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Gibson General Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit in Princeton. She was born January 19, 1923 in Gibson County to Noah and Elizabeth (Hornbrook) Horne. She lived in Princeton since 1991, coming from Mt. Olympus. She was member of the Mt. Olive United Methodist Church since age of 18. She joined the Order of Eastern Star #317 in Hazleton in 1948, it then combined with the Patoka Lodge #281 and she had a total of 69 years as a member. She was a 50 year member of the Gibson General Hospital Auxiliary and received a plaque from the Mayor for those 50 years of volunteering with the Gibson General Hospital Auxiliary on May 3, 2017.
She is survived by her 3 sons, Michael “Mick” Meade (Barbara), Robert Meade (Judy) and Steve Meade (Gwen) all of Patoka; 7 grandchildren, Julie Clark (Jeff), Jeff Meade, Robin Fowler (Stan), Lance Meade (Kendra), Beth Hession (Chris), Grant Meade (Jennifer) and Clint Meade (April); 9 great grandchildren, Dr. Michael Clark (Brittani), Lauren Williams (Adam), Hannah, Haley and Heidi Meade, Coltin Higginbotham, Tanner Meade (friend, Nikki), Shelby Meade and Clayton Meade; 3 great-great grandchildren, Braxton and Nora Clark and Savannah Higginbotham.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Howard Meade in 1990; and 3 sisters.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, IN, officiated by Pastor Sam Polito. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Mt. Olympus, IN. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday evening at Colvin Funeral Home. Order of Eastern Star Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday evening.
