Betty Collins Obituary

Betty Lou Behymer Collins, 96 of Princeton, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at the River Oaks Health Campus in Princeton.  She was born January 4, 1928 to Charles and Ruth (Hull) Behymer and lived her life time in Princeton. She was a graduate of Princeton High School in 1946.

Betty worked several years for her father at Behymer Cleaners. She married James Gordon Collins September 3, 1950 and was blessed with 51 years of marriage before his passing in 2002. Betty was a member of Hillside United Methodist Church, a 30-year active member of Alpha Nu Chapter of Tri Kappa, and 75-year member of Golden Fleece Chapter 176 Eastern Star. Betty was a special lady. She was a loving wife and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Betty cherished her family and friends and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gordon Collins; sisters, Wilma Schmidt and Patricia Hadley; and brother-in-law’s, Edward Schmidt and Fred Hadley.

Betty is survived by her children, Charles Steven “Steve” Collins (Rosemarie) and Angela Jo “Angie” Ford (Mac); grandchildren, Jason Evans (Melanie), Zach Collins, Rachel Berry (Myron), Mackenzie Ford (Tim Greene), Christy Ford (Dan Saavedra), and Rachel Murry (Amanda); great-grandchildren, Noah and Aubrey Evans, Kameron Berry, Kamdyn Collins, Kaleigha Berry, Easton Murry, Parker Murry, Avalyn Collins, Nora Collins, William Greene, and Margaret Greene; former daughter-in-law, Karen Collins (Steve Noe); and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held 3 PM Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at Hillside United Methodist Church in Princeton with Pastor Mindy Huffman officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 1 PM until the service time at the church with burial to follow at Archer Cemetery in Princeton.

The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff at River Oaks Heath Campus and Gentiva Hospice for the special care given.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Hillside United Methodist Church, envelopes will be available at the church.
