Dorothy P. (Maikranz) Georges

Dorothy P. Georges was born July 26, 1929 to Lucy Opal and John Arvil Maikranz. She went home to be with the Lord on March 15, 2024. She graduated in 1947 from Mackey High School. Dorothy was a cook for the Mackey/Somerville Elementary Schools. She worked as a CNA at Good Samaritan Nursing Home. She served as one of the original Gibson County EMT's and worked in that capacity for nearly 20 years. Dorothy was the director of the East Gibson County Food Pantry for several years. She thoroughly enjoyed attending her grandchildren's school activities and sporting events. She loved to cook for family and friends and share recipes. Dorothy enjoyed gardening and tending her flowers, sewing, and writing poetry.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; son, Alan Bennett; and son-in-law, Jim Vickers.

Dorothy is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 56 years, Charles Georges; children, Terry Bennett (Linda), Darlene Wright (Steve), Greg Bennett, Janelle Bennett, and Michelle Vickers; 2 brothers; a sister; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She truly loved her family and friends and will be sorely missed.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM (CST) Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Mackey Salem Church in Mackey officiated by Pastor Matt Malin and Pastor Alec Hensley. Interment will follow at Providence Cemetery in Francisco. The visiting hours will be held Wednesday night from 5 until 8:00 PM (CST) at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City and from 10 until service time Thursday at the church.
