Betty J. Howe, 94 of Princeton, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at River Oaks Health Campus of Princeton. She was born in Bruceville, IN on May 12, 1924. Betty spent most of her life in the Princeton area and married her high school sweetheart, Herbert “Bud” Howe. She enjoyed ceramics, crochet, and making pot holders. She also enjoyed canning the fruits and vegetables from her husband’s garden.
Betty worked as a bookkeeper at the Gibson County Courthouse for about 12 years and was a lifetime member of the VFW. She was a member of Hillside United Methodist Church in Princeton.
She is survived by her daughter, Shelia Dawson (Bob); sister, Gloria Jines (Bob); 2 grandchildren, Angela Tokarek and Krisi Poe; 5 great-grandchildren, Tim, Travis, Jon, Trevor and Annie; niece, Sue Ellen; and nephews, Gary, R.J., and Dickie.
She was preceded in death by her father, Marion Carson; mother, Opal (Wakeland) Burkhart; husband, Herbert S. Howe of 67 years; sister, Dorothy Fitch.
A graveside memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 1 P.M. at Archer Cemetery in Princeton with Rev. Curtis Bond officiating.
