Charles “Chuck” E. Kerney, 74, of Evansville, Indiana passed away Friday, October 25, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville. He was born March 18, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois son of William Joseph Kerney and Ethel M. (Townsend) Kerney. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1964 until 1968 and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Evansville. Chuck worked as a coal miner for 17 years, then as a security guard at Azteca. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Carolyn Kerney; son, Robert L. Kerney; daughter, Crissy Kerney; several step-children; 2 grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; and 2 brothers, James L. Kerney and Paul W. Kerney.
He was preceded in death by his parents, second wife, Darlene Kerney; and sister, Naomi R. Shaffer.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM (CST) Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM (CST), Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City with Pastor Kirk Horstmeyer officiating. Burial will follow at Immanuel Cemetery in Evansville. Military rites will be provided by the Retired Military Veterans.
