Donna Marlene DeJarnett (Finney) Mason

Donna Marlene Finney (DeJarnett) Mason, 82, of Evansville passed away peacefully Monday, March 4th at the Deaconess Linda E. White Hospice Center. She had suffered a massive ischemic stroke on Wednesday, Feb. 27.

Donna was born in Princeton in 1936 and after being named Princeton High School’s Homecoming Queen in her senior year, graduated in 1954. She married and is preceded in death by Donald R. DeJarnett, Sr. She is also preceded by her eldest son, Donald (D.J.) DeJarnett, Jr., and her mother Beulah Pearl Finney.

Donna married James H. Mason of Princeton, IN in 1974 and resided on Top Hat Rd. until relocation to Northern Vanderburgh County in 2014. Jim only recently preceded her, passing in July of 2018. She worked for 20 years and was branch manager for the Old National Bank (formerly Gibson County Bank) of Princeton.

Donna worshipped at the Hillside Methodist Church of Princeton, was active with friends, travel (she loved the Florida Gulf Coast) and her family. An inveterate shopper, Donna loved to look for style and bargains everywhere she went. QVC will miss her.

Nonna, as she was affectionately called by the 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, was a loving, doting grandmother, mother and wife. Easy to laugh but always having an insight and a solution to an issue, she was the person her family turned to in need of advice and direction.

Mrs. Mason is survived by her brother, Thomas, of Dumfries, VA, his 2 daughters Kerry and Laurel; Her Son, Kent DeJarnett of Monroe, N.C., his wife, Leslie and grandchildren Mason, Graham and Cale; Her grandchildren K.J. (great grandchildren Savannah and Braelyn), Bradley (spouse Jaclyn) and Danielle Clark (spouse Chris, great grandchildren Lilliana and Chris III); Grandson Trey (Donald R. DeJarnett III), his wife Emily of Fenton, MI and his mother Shawn DeJarnett of Alpharetta, GA.: Step-daughter Jenifer Heidi Mason Gruelle of O’ Fallon, MO (spouse Russell, grandchildren Rachel and Joseph).

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Decker Cemetery in rural Patoka, officiated by Pastor Curtis Bond, with burial following. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery.
