Dr. H T Risley, D.D.S. 93, of Oakland City, IN, formerly of Kokomo and Indianapolis, passed away on October 20, 2018 at Amber Manor Care Center in Petersburg, IN after several years of deteriorating health. He was born on November 6, 1924 in Princeton, IN, but grew up in Oakland City the only child of Harley Taylor and Leona Bell (Blacketer) Risley who preceded him in death along with his first wife and mother of his children, Georgia Ann (Ford) Risley (1925-1977), married in 1952; and his second wife, Norma (Florek-King) Risley (1925-1989), married in 1977.
He graduated from Oakland City High School in 1942 and from the Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1950. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and served from 1952 to 1955, where he achieved the rank of Captain and was stationed in Japan during the Korean War. He opened his Dental practice in Indianapolis in 1965 and moved it to Kokomo in 1969, where he stayed until he sold his practice and retired in 1982. He then returned to the area of his hometown in 1991.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and is survived by his third wife of 28 years, Betty (Theiring-Barnard) Risley, married in 1990; his son and daughter-in-law, Kerry Ford and Tina (Wash) Risley; his two daughters, Kathy Ann Risley and Kimberly Jean (Risley) Lakin; his son-in-law, Michael Lakin; his grandson, Matthew Lance Lakin; and a stepson, Charles Barnard.
A private viewing will be held followed by a graveside service at 12 noon (CST) Monday, October 29, 2018 at Montgomery Cemetery in Oakland City, Indiana. Military graveside rites by Retired Military Veterans. Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
