George Alfred White, 80, of Evansville and formerly of Princeton, passed away Friday, October 19, 2018 at his home in Evansville. He was born on September 1, 1938 in Princeton, IN to Vivian and Grace (Sharp) White. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1958 as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division, serving in Germany. He was a Brakeman & Conductor for Norfolk Southern Railroad for 25 years, retiring in 1992. He attended Crossroad Christian Church in Newburgh and in his younger years he attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Princeton. He was a member of U.T.U. Local 490, where he served as President and Secretary/Treasurer.
He is survived by his wife, Edith White of Evansville; children, David White (Mary) of Huntingburg, Roger White (Fiancée, Shari Gesser) of Evansville and Brandon White (Shauna) of Vincennes; step-daughter, Yvonne Beavin (George) of Evansville; step-son, Brent Miles (Terri) of Newburgh; 10 grandchildren, Ashton, Auston, Samuel & Cameron White, Kristal Whitmer, Damien & Kayla Miles, Scott Spencer and Daniel & Robert Beavin; 7 great grandchildren, Astrid, Aubry, Raiden, Brayden, Aubree, Cain and Aiden; 3 nieces and 1 nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother; and 4 sisters.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 2, 2018 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton. There will be no burial. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Evansville Rescue Mission, 500 East Walnut St., Evansville, IN 47713.
