Hazel P. Collins, 99, of Hazleton, passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at the Gibson General Hospital SNF in Princeton, IN. She was born July 27, 1919 in Gibson County to Scott and Bertha (Dunn) Collins. She was a lifelong resident of Gibson County. She retired from North Gibson School Corp., where she had worked at Lowell School in 2001, after 23 years. She also worked for the Green Thumb. She joined the Hazleton General Baptist Church 1951 and was baptized in the White River down by the old Town Hall in July of 1951. She later became a member of the Hazleton United Methodist Church.
She is survived by 7 nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, Grace McDaniels and Lula Crecelius; and 3 brothers, Otis, Doris and David Collins.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Hazleton United Methodist Church, officiated by Pastor Sam Polito and Evelyn Owens. Burial will follow in Davidson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton has been entrusted with arrangements for Hazel.
