Helen L. Burdette, 90, of Winslow, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018 at her home. She was born January 8, 1928 in Daviess County, Indiana to the late Merlin Racy Stuckey and Lola May (Ramsey) Stuckey. She was a homemaker, an awesome cook, had a green thumb and loved flowers, canning and freezing from the garden. She had an incredible memory and a song or a saying for everything. Helen moved to Pike County, Winslow area in 1946 from Daviess County and was a member of New Liberty General Baptist Church in Coe for many years.
Helen is survived by her two daughters, Brenda Kay Simmons (Lanny) of Winslow and Deana Lynn Kearns of West End, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Melanie (Simmons) Kavanaugh, Ryan Edrington, Joshua Kearns and Katie Kearns; eight great grandchildren, Karley Kavanaugh, Allison, Matthew, Elizabeth, Jack and Isaiah Edrington, Carter Gaddy and Joslynn Kearns; two sisters, Marjorie Angerer of Franklin, IN and Georgia Mason of Winslow; also several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry Dean Burdette in 2008 and to whom she was married April 29, 1949 in Plainville, IN; a daughter, Karen Lee Edrington in 2016; grandson, Jason Edrington; great-grandson, Caleb Edrington; and also four brothers, Merlin, Dayton, Dwight and Claude Stuckey.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. EDT Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City, with Rev. Gary Pancake officiating. Burial will follow at New Liberty Cemetery in Coe. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. EDT Monday and again from 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Tuesday at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home. *note (All times listed are Pike County time)*
