James Samuel “Sam” Settle Sr., 83, of Francisco, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2017 at his home in Francisco. He was born on December 17, 1933 in Morgan County, IN to Eugene Settles and Hazel (Lynks) Settle. Sam was a plumber and lived in Florida, Tennessee, Evansville and then Francisco. He was a member of Francisco General Baptist Church and formerly a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Spring City, TN. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the Oakland City American Legion Post #203. He loved his family.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Edith H. “Edie” Settle of Francisco; 5 children, Samra Brown of Mooresville, IN, James Settle (Kris) of Oakland City, IN, Rhonda Dorset (Robert Black) of Mooresville, IN, Rebecca Geary (John) of Kokomo, IN and Sharyl Gibson (Ronnie) of Avon, IN; 4 step children, Lori Kennedy (Doug) of Henderson, NV, Alyce Givarz (Mark) of Missouri, Sheri Ventricelli (Ralph) of Milford, CT and Mark Englander (Karen) of Newport Richey, FL; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Nancy Thomas of Princeton; several nieces and nephews; and his favorite dogs, Queenie and Pepe.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and 2 brothers, William and Gerald Ray Settle.

There will be a graveside service at 11 am on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton, officiated by Dr. Katheryn Webb. Burial will follow. Colvin Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Military graveside services by Retired Military Veterans.
