James H. “Jim” Morton, 80, of Princeton, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN. He was born on January 2, 1937 in Washington, IN to Herman J. and Wanda H (Hopper) Morton, both deceased. Jim graduated from James E. Roberts High School for the physically disabled in Indianapolis in 1956. He was honored to be adopted by the Princeton High School class of 1956. He was also a graduate of Oakland City University and the University of Illinois. Jim worked summers as a feature writer for the Princeton Daily Clarion from 1960-1970. He was employed as a psychologist by Gibson County Rehabilitation Center for twenty years starting in 1973. From 1995 until 2001, he was editor/publisher of Ports of Call, a travel magazine for the disabled. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon and an Elder. Jim was also a member of Elks Lodge #634 and Eagles Lodge #361. He is survived by several cousins; and his extended family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 12 noon Monday, September 25, 2017 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, officiated by Rev. Vanlal Hruaia. Visitation will be from 10 am until service time on Monday at Colvin Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Washington, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Hospital for Children, 705 Riley Hospital Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46202. Envelopes will be available at the Colvin Funeral Home.
