I loved Mrs. Woods. She taught me in high school. Although our paths did cross in a social manner after high school I always still called her Mrs. Woods. She was always so interested in my life and also my children's life's. I loved how she loved her children and grandchildren. I am sure you will all miss her very much. I am sorry I was unable to attend her celebration of life.

May I express my heartfelt condolences to your family. At this time, there is a sense of helplessness when someone we love dies. Many wonder and ask how does one get through this time? Take time to reflect on the good times shared with the deceased one. Prayer is extremely valuable at this time, Psalms 55:22. As you cry and mourn over the loss please remember Jesus Christ spoke about a real hope at John 5:28, " all those in the memorial tomb will hear his voice and come out ". May God comfort you during this time of great loss.

I loved Cousin Jane from our childhoods together. She, her sister Susan and I were in many trio adventures (would those be called "playdates" today?) when we were young and on through years in 4-H, with added friends and wider adventures. Uncle Chester referred to us as banana peelings. (useless/ worthless rascals) My old favorite reminder of us together is a prized photo taken at Susan's evening December wedding in Union Bethel Church. We all looked so wonderful and young.
Jane saved my life once at Shakamak camp. I slipped off a mid-lake dock the wrong way and she grabbed my hand as I was going down. All in a family friendship she later responded to my comments --- years later.

Separate ways in later days as lives moved along.

Purdue/IU. Always the gentle ribbing in cards and later at reunions. She chuckled when she found that my husband Rob Bruner was a Purdue man!
Cousins' reunions after the Phillips Reunions ceased were always good times. These were many years' worth of friendship and cousin-ship. Our dads were and would have been proud of the kinship things. Jane's dad counted cousins back through at least eight!

We talked a long time on the phone last year, not a usual thing for us. I am glad we did and sorry we were not more prone to phone.
We talked of her being the last of six and missing what we had had, as all my family were gone....

Cousin Malinda noted yesterday that there are only eight of us "firsts"
now. The number was unusually large as families go in our generation. We were separated by years.

We will keep you in our hearts, dear 'Ane, as we used to call you. Your dear family members have much good to remember: your humor, your strength, your wisdom, your caring and your Big Love.
It is more than Good that you were a part of our lives.

I always called her Aunt Jane, Grandpa Leotis and Grandmother Kolb and Uncle Joe.
We were just cousins, but we spent so much time together growing up, I just felt like they were all more than the above.
Aunt Jane will be greatly missed by many. She always had a smile on her face, both hands in her pockets while she talked like Uncle Chester. She and Joe seemed to always be available to come and be kind to all us of kids and make us smile and enjoy life.
God Bless You!
Love, Jackie & Buck
