Janie E. Carter, 62 of Princeton passed away Friday, June 22, 2018 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh. She was born in Princeton, November 18, 1955 to Teddy Lee and Barbara (Helm) Knight.
She had been a nurse’s aide at the Gibson General Hospital for twelve years. She had lived in Princeton since 2013 moving from Ft. Branch where she had lived most of her life, graduating from Haubstadt High School in 1974. She formerly had worked at Higginson’s Market in Mackey and at the V.F.W. in Ft. Branch.
Janie is survived by her husband, Curtis Wayne Carter of Princeton; three children, Karena VanMeter (Michael Buehler) of Evansville, Sierra Wagner (Travis) of Mt Carmel and W. Kyle Williams (Anna) of Henderson, KY; 2 step-daughters, Alysha Lazo and Cami Jointer of Evansville; 2 step-sons, Justin Carter of Cowling, IL and Eric Carter of Lawrenceville, IL; six brothers and sisters, Bill Knight, Sherri Johnson, Karen Farmer, Melissa Fithian, Tonya Villegas and Rodney Knight; 8 grandchildren, Peyton (Elijah), Blayne, Jackson, Lathan, Nathaniel, Liam, Lainey and Victoria; a great grandchild, Keon; several nieces and nephews; and 2 special cousins, Kathy Elliott and Connie Spear.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kevin Knight; and a son, Stevie Byrns.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, officiated by Rev. Joy L. Sherman. Burial will follow in the Columbia White Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11a.m. until the service time Wednesday at Colvin Funeral Home.
