Joseph Spurgeon Obituary

Joseph A. Spurgeon, 75, of Princeton, IN passed away on January 2, 2020 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh. He was born to Elmer Paul and Beatrice Spurgeon on September 10, 1944. He graduated from Princeton High School. He married Dorothy Oestreicher on Oct 30, 1964. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.He was a member of the Oakland City Eagles. Joe worked for and retired from Old Ben Coal Company. He was proud to be a member of the UMWA. He was always a hard worker and enjoyed raising tomatoes. He enjoyed showing pictures of and sharing stories about his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Dottie in January 2019; brothers, Robert and Paul: and his sister Janice.

He is survived by his only daughter Debbie (Jason) Kixmiller, grandson, Braden and granddaughter, Jada, all of Washington, IN; sister, Tanya; and brother, Larry.

A private graveside service will be held at St. Johns Cemetery in Buckskin, officiated by Pastor Kevin Wilson. Burial will follow. There will be no visitation.

The family would like to thank Dr. Murthy for his amazing care, kindness, and friendship over the years.
