Rev. George J. Johnson

Rev. George J. Johnson, 58 of Washington, IN received the best present by spending Christmas with Jesus, on Tuesday December 25, 2018 at I.U. Simon Cancer Center in Indianapolis, IN. He was one of 10 children born on March 8, 1960 in Seymour IN to George Washington and Eliza (Noble) Johnson.

George had lived in Washington for the past 19 years moving there from Bedford. He was the Minister for the Washington Church of the Nazarene for the past 19 years. He was an avid Kentucky Wildcat fan. and a St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan. He enjoyed College Football, fishing and traveling to the Smokey Mountains as often as he could with hopes of seeing a bear.

He is survived by his wife, Renee Johnson of Washington; son, Rev. Andrew Johnson of Princeton; twin daughters, Ashley Diaz (Phil) of Washington and Brittany Ireland (Thom) of Washington; 7 grandchildren, Eliza and Cooper Johnson, Lilly and Liam Diaz, Caleb and Emma Ireland and Emily Steelman; 8 siblings, Raymond Johnson (Martha), Willard Johnson (Connie), Richard Johnson (Marilyn) and Marie Baker (John) all of Bedford, Frank Johnson (Mary) of Princeton, Mary Allman (Wayne) of Seymour, Betty Dion (Tommy) of Santa Fe, TX, and Edith Kemper of Massachusetts; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John P. and Gerri Jones of Bedford.

Funeral Service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2018 at the New Life Church of the Nazarene, 712 N. Embree St., Princeton, with Rev. Andrew Johnson officiating. There will be a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. C.S.T. Monday at the Greenhill Cemetery in Bedford IN. Visitation will be from 3 until 7 p.m. Sunday at the New Life Church of Nazarene.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Washington Church of the Nazarene, P.O. Box 751, Washington, IN 47501. Envelopes will be available at the church.
