Tonya K. Sutherlin 64, of Princeton passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville. She was born April 2, 1955 in Mt. Carmel, IL to Harold “Dick” and Barbara (Wrye) Gibbs. She was a secretary for the Monroe County Probation Department in Bloomington IN for many years.
She had moved back to Princeton three years ago after living in several others places then settling in Bloomington. She grew up in Princeton, graduating from P.C.H.S. in 1973. She enjoyed rock painting and giving them to children, who would hide them for others to find. She also enjoyed reading, coloring and playing games on her iPad. She was a very giving person always concerned for other’s needs. She recently gave to the backpack bash for students of the North Gibson School Corporation, so they would have things they would need for school.
Tonya is survived by her daughter, April MacDougall (Brendan) of Aldie, VA; sister, Twyla Johnson (Jim) of Princeton; 2 nieces, Nikki Gora (Jeff), Melissa Johnson (Cody Lloyd); 2 great-nieces and a great-nephew, Holly and Lincoln Reed, and KatieAnn Gora and her canine companion Rascal.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her companion of many years Charles Giles.
There will be a memorial service at 2 pm on Friday, August 23, 2019 at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, IN. Burial of her cremated remains will follow in the Columbia “White” Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 noon until 2 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
