Vivian Evelyn “Vicky” Gillison, 67 of Evansville passed away Saturday June 29, 2019 at her home in Evansville, IN. She was born March 1, 1952 in Stafford Springs, Connecticut, to Melvin F. and Barbara (Sorel) Haskell.
She enlisted in the United States Marine Corps upon graduation from high school. After her honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, she went on to work for the Federal Government, retiring after 28 years at a Grade of GS-13. She earned her Bachelors in Business Administration from Central Pacific University in Hawaii. She was an active member of the Order of Eastern Star, Tri-State Women Veterans, Marine Corp League and was a avid bowler.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cherish and Christopher Bobbitt of Oakland City; 7 grandchildren, Sierrah and husband Joshua Webb of Evansville, Mackenzie and husband James Lowery of Evansville, Emily Smith of Plainfield, IL, Khiyelan, Brian, Brayden, and Haylen Bobbitt, all of Oakland City; 4 great-grandchildren, Zachary and Natalie Bruce, Axton Webb and Eli Lowery; 2 sisters; Susan and husband, Kevin Graham of Windham, ME, Sandra and husband, Ed Lachtara of Bridgton, ME; brother: Donald and wife, Ann Haskell of East Longmeadow, MA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her son Thomas F. Smith Jr. in 2013.
Services will begin 3 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2019 with a Military Service, followed by an Eastern Star Service, then a Memorial Service at the Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City, with Pastor Alec Hensley officiating. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 2 until 3 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children or to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The Corn-Colvin Funeral home is honored to serve the Gillison family.
