William A. “Lonnie” Greenwell, 79 of Princeton passed away Sunday, December 15, 2019 at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville. He was born In Morganfield, KY August 25, 1940 to Joseph and Caroline (Walthon) Greenwell.
Lonnie was a longtime employee of Dick Clark's Family Restaurant, working there for over 50 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knight of Columbus. He enjoyed woodworking, working outside, sports, fishing and watching Western movies.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Frances Greenwell of Princeton; son, William “Bill” Greenwell Jr. (Debbie) of Princeton; daughter, Lisa Schafer (Kris) of Princeton; 6 grandchildren, Kyle Greenwell (Kelci), Beau Greenwell (Lanae), D’Nell Greenwell, Detrix Schafer (Hannah), Dakota Thacker (Jake) and Daegan Schafer; 8 great-grandchildren, Klay, Luke, Leo, Wyatt, Rowan, Tatum, Brady and Myles; 1 sister, Lucy Gaston of Princeton; 4 brothers, Charles “Max” Greenwell of Evansville, Ronnie Greenwell of Tennessee, John Greenwell of Evansville and Henry Greenwell of Kentucky; several nieces and nephews.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Betty Grubb, Jeanette Meeks and Virginia Gray; brothers, Buddy Greenwell and Jerry Greenwell.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton with Fr. Brian Emmick officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Princeton. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Colvin Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic School or to the P.C.H.S. Athletic Department. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
