William Woods Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of William H. Woods Sr. (Bill) announces his passing on November 3, 2018 in Apalachin. NY. Born in 1932 in Toledo, OH and spending most of his childhood in Francisco, IN, Bill was proud of his Indiana heritage even though he has not lived there for some time.

He will be lovingly remembered by his family, especially his four children, William (Dawn) Woods of Newton, MA, Mark (Michelle) Woods of Sebastian, FL, Dorothea (Michael) Gaston of Apalachin, NY, and Michele (Michael) Koubeck of Easton, CT.

Also surviving are his six grandchildren whom he adored, Devon, Morgan, Taylor, Adam, Jack and Monica; two sisters Cheri Parker of Taylor, MI; Sue (Lyman) O’Neal of Punta Gorda, FL and many other special family members.

He is predeceased by his wife and love of his life, Concetta, in 2011, along with his parents James and Dorothea Woods, and brothers Richard and James. In addition his brother Mitch passed away in March of 2019.

Bill grew up in Francisco, Indiana and graduated from Francisco High in 1950. After high school he joined the Navy and served during the Korean War on the USS NEW. After the Navy he worked for IBM in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia where he met and married his wife Concetta in 1962. He moved to Endicott, NY in 1968 and this is where he raised his family. He was a member of the Endicott Elks Club, IBM Quarter Century Club, and an active member and volunteer at Saint Joseph’s Church in Endicott. He had an unwavering devotion to the Saint Louis Cardinals, and Indiana University Basketball.

Bill loved his family with all of his heart and always put them before himself. He lived by the rule that if you were going to do something, you worked hard, tried your best, and did it right. He was a good man who will be missed.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at the Francisco Cemetery. All are welcome to attend. Any act of kindness in Bill’s memory would truly be an honor and appreciated by his family.
