Alford Stewart, Sr., 58, of Flora, Illinois passed away Monday, January 6, 2025 at Clay County Hospital. He was born November 26, 1966 in Vincennes, Indiana and worked as an automation service engineer for Hella Electronics for 35 years. He graduated Vincennes University with an Associate Degree in Robotics and loved NASCAR. Alford also enjoyed reading mystical novels and watching movies like Star Wars, Star Trek, Dr. Who, and Harry Potter. He was known for his love of computers and documenting, always having a camera and researching his family genealogy. Alford was dearly loved and will be missed.
Alford is survived by his children, Roy Stewart, II of Knoxville, TN and Danielle Stewart of Flora, IL; significant other of 8 years, Tammy Hoover of Flora; siblings, Karen, David, and Damon; uncle, Ray Denton; aunts, Jane Kinman and Melody Denton; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, the mother of his children, Cheri McKinney (Norman) of Mt. Erie; and his precious “fur babies”, Zoe the doodle, and his cats, Patch, Dagda Mor, and Freya.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Nathan and Margaret (Denton) Stewart; siblings, Suzie and Leroy; aunt, Merle (Paul); and uncles, Fred and Wilber.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Robert O. Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Williams Cemetery in Pike County. Visiting hours will be held from 12:00 noon until service time at the funeral home.
