Alfred Leister Obituary

Alfred Dean Leister, 78, of Owensville, passed away Monday, February 28, 2022 at home. He was born May 23, 1943 in Owensville to Darby Dean and Versie Ellen (Tucker) Leister. He retired from the Wabash Mine in Keensburg, IL after 33 years. Alfred lived in Owensville all of his life and was a member of the First Christian Church in Owensville. He was a people person who would do anything for anyone. He enjoyed singing, loved attending his church and in the past had enjoyed fishing with his late wife, Sandra.

Alfred is survived by his children, Sandra “Sandy” Fahrner of Oakland City and Rodger Dean Leister (Vicki) of Owensville; grandchildren, Ashley Black (Curtis), Cory Leister, Alex Leister, Kelsey Lofton, Colton Linxwiler, Chyle Linxwiler; Nathan Leister, Kayla Fahrner, Lucretia Fahrner and Brandy Ward (Dakota); several great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Compton (Larry) of Kansas; and brother-in-law, Dale Henry.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sandra Kay (Robb) Leister in 2007; sister, Edith Henry and brother, Jimmy Patterson.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, March 4, 2022 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Bart Newton officiating. Interment will follow at Maumee Cemetery in Johnson. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 3rd at the funeral home from 5 until 8 pm and again on Friday from 10 am until the service hour.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Intrepid Hospice nurses, Sandi Dyer and Barb Hubbard as well as family friend, Christine Henson who sat with and cared for Alfred.
