Alice P. Whittington, 89, of Princeton and formerly of rural Francisco, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at her home. She was born on April 27, 1935 in Gibson County to the late John Alva and Nannie B. Ahlemann, and had resided in this area most of her lifetime.
Alice enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading, jigsaw puzzles, helping others and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Princeton. She had worked at the former Hitch Packing Co. in Princeton and then worked many years at Wheeler Oil/W & W Pizza in Princeton.
Alice is survived by her daughters, Lisa and Dave Sinkhorn, Julie and Greg Harden, Jill and Mark Farris, all of Princeton; step-children, Debra Cain, Rick Whittington, Susan and Jeff Storckman, and Ben and Michelle Whittington; grandchildren, Brittney Wetekamp (Nathan), Brittney Abel (Jace), Ryan Harden, Kyle Cummins (Kelsey), Stephan Farris (Meg), Megan McClellan (Eric), Emily Kamman (Chris), Natalie Roethemeier (Ryan), Cassie Whittington Sutt (Jeremiah), Kelly Sanders (Josh), Marissa Clem (Dustin), Max Storckman (Charly), Mya, Maylin, Maverick and Mathias Storckman, Tristan Whittington (Katie), Taylor, Tanessa, and Tinsley Whittington; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Jacen, Eli, Chandlyr, Makayah, Karsyn, Krew, Beckham, Brooks, Burkleigh, Gavin, Alex, Allison, Catie, Jael, Walker, Charlette, Cash, Bowen, Boone, and Hudson; and several special nieces and nephews.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leon Whittington in 2023; sons-in-law, Mark Embree and Curt Cain; great-grandchild, Alyssa; daughter-in-law, LuAnn Whittington; sisters, Pauline Bowman, Verlie Harvey, Hazel Grubb and Mary Loewen.
A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Friday, July 19, 2024 at the First Baptist Church, 800 W. Faith Blvd. in Princeton, with Pastor Jim Saunders officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Mt. Olympus. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 pm on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at the church and again from 12 noon until the time of service on Friday at the church. The Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton has been entrusted with the arrangements.
