Anne Myers Obituary

Anne D. Myers, 75, of Oakland City, IN passed away March 1, 2024. She was born March 28, 1948 in Gadsden, Alabama to the late James W. Hinton and Mary (Gallaway) Hinton. Anne was in the 1966 graduating class of Princeton High School. She earned her Bachelors’ Degree from Indiana State University of Evansville, now known as University of Southern Indiana where she was in Sigma, Sigma, Sigma sorority. Anne lived a life in public service, working in the city water billing office in the 1970’s, then as a deputy in the Gibson County Auditor’s Office, and winning election as Gibson County Auditor. After her second term as auditor, she worked in a number of other jobs in the community including being active in the Gibson County Democrat Party and serving on Oakland City Common Council board. Anne was a longtime member of Fairview Presbyterian Church, 44-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and VFW Auxiliary. She liked to attend St. Bernard Church’s chicken dinners, going to flea markets, taking her dog on walks, doing ceramics, crafting, traveling, and attending church. Anne loved animals, children, and spending time with family. She found value in her faith, friendships, and community service. Anne was a special person that gave so much love and care to many, she will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold E. “Hoss” Myers, sister, Mary Betty Pollock; and Miss Blue, her little Scottie dog.

Anne is survived by her step-sons, Mark (Terri) Myers and Mel “Bub” Myers; 4 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren with one on the way.

A funeral service will be held at 6 PM March 11, 2024 at Colvin Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 4 PM until service time at the funeral home. A private burial will take place at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Ft. Branch at a later date.
