Betty A. Bateman, 98, of Princeton, IN passed away May 5, 2023 in Louisville, KY. She was born February 10, 1925 in Princeton, IN to the late Welzie Julian and Ethel M. (Snelling) Julian. Betty worked as a sales clerk at J.C. Penny’s for several years. She was a member of Patoka Methodist Church. Betty was a Cub Scout, Girl Scout, and Brownie leader for many years during her children’s youth. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Betty’s family was the most important thing to her. She was loved by many and will be missed deeply.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Bateman Jr.; son, Charles Dale “Butchie” Bateman III; brothers, Bill, Max, Jim, Welzie “Red”, Jerry and Don Julian; and brother-in-law’s, Bob Sinkhorn and James Paris Grable.
She is survived by her daughter, Rita Tapley (Norman); son, Kenny Bateman (Debbie); siblings, Marilouise Sinkhorn, Barbara Grable, and Patsy Stetzer; sister-in-law’s, Sue Julian, Maxine Julian, Arlene Julian, and Sandy Julian; grandchildren, Chuck Tapley (Veronica), Sherry Randolph (Quincy), Jennifer Masters (Chris), Lacy Pea, and Michael Bateman (Katrina); 11 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Hazleton Community Cemetery.
