Betty “Lou” McCroskey, 98, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at RiverOaks Health Campus in Princeton. She was born February 19, 1926 in Beattyville, Kentucky to the late Luther and Cora (Plummer) Newnam. She resided in Princeton for 26 years before moving to Newburgh Indiana in 1980. Lou was a beloved homemaker who especially enjoyed baking pies and making candy for family and friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Lou cherished spending time with her family and the many friends she made along the way. Her proudest family moment was watching all five of her grandchildren succeed in life. Lou was also an avid supporter of the United States Marine Corp due to her husband’s service in WWII. She was a past member of Broadway Christian Church in Princeton.
Lou was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 48 years, Edwin; great-granddaughter, Heidi Nicole McClain; 1 brother; and 1 sister.
She is survived by her children, Ron (Ruth) McCroskey of Cicero, IN. and Robyn (Mark) Pepper of Princeton, IN; grandchildren, Ryan (Cassie) McCroskey, Eric (Chrissy) McCroskey, Alyson (Matt) McClain, Kelly Pepper, and Abby (Karl) Nielsen; great-grandchildren, Aidan and Reese McCroskey, Landon and Henry McCroskey, Connor McClain, Maeve and Lachlan Nielsen; several nieces; and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1 pm CST on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Pastor Donnie Truelock officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Riverview Cemetery in Beattyville, KY. A visitation will be held from 11 am until 1 pm CST on Tuesday, May 21st at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
