Beverly Mae Johnson, 85, of Princeton, IN passed away August 5, 2025 at home surrounded by family. She was born in Evansville, IN October 4, 1939 to the late James E. Turpin and Erva M. (Penn) Turpin. Bev married Milton “Milt” Hawkins December of 1956 and was blessed with nearly 55 years before his passing July 9, 2010. They owned and operated a TV repair business for many years before retiring from that business to manage hotels and storage units. Bev and Milt volunteered to help however they could at Shalamar home for abused children. She was a member of Women’s club in Shafter, CA where she served as president. Bev married James “Red” Johnson in 2012 and was able to spend 6 years with him before his passing on October 26, 2018. Bev was a past member of Southern Baptist Church of Shafter, CA, and United Methodist Church of Corpus Christi, TX. She attended Bethel Memorial Church of Princeton when her health would allow. Bev enjoyed to crochet, read a good book, and travel when she was able. She loved spending time with her family at family gatherings. Bev treasured the time with her daughter where she would color on her IPAD and watch a TV series in the evenings. She will deeply be missed by many.
Bev was preceded in death by her parents; 1st husband; 2nd husband; granddaughter, Andrea Hawkins; and siblings, Dennis and Larry Turpin.
She is survived by her children, Cindy (Scott) Smart, Robert (Beth) Hawkins, and Steve (Maria) Hawkins; siblings, Gary (Ruth) Turpin, Jim (Rose) Turpin, Debbie Robinson, and Audrey Morrison; grandchildren, Steven, Tabitha, Jason (Katie), Cody (Tori), Taylor (Kourtney), Breann (Matt), Dylan, Andy, and Tatum; great-grandchildren, Bella, Levi, Miles, Emery Kate, Hudson, Max Lincoln, Leanna on the way, Grayson, Karson, Farrah, Jacob, and Olivia; and sister-in-law, Susie Turpin.
A memorial service will be held 4 P.M. Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Colvin Funeral Home with Pastor Jon Harbison officiating. Visitation will be held from 3 P.M. until service time at the funeral home.
