Carol Jean Bajzath, 71, of Oakland City, passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on Monday, November 10, 2025 at Heart-to-Heart Hospice in Evansville. She was born August 4, 1954 in Princeton to the late Fred Lasley and Lois (Scott) Lasley. She graduated Princeton Community High School class of ’72 and married the love of her life, John Bajzath, on December 20, 1975. Carol Jean worked at Dollar General, then Gibson County Animal Services, was a cook at Cozy Cove Restaurant and owned and operated “By the Cup” in Oakland City. She was a past member of Columbia White Church and 4-H Jr. Leaders. Carol Jean was a dedicated and loving wife to John, she was stubbornly devoted, and loved her nieces and nephews as her own children. She is in heaven now and will be missed.
Carol is survived by her husband of 50 years, John Bajzath of Oakland City; siblings, Janet Taylor (Gary) and Bob Lasley; nieces and nephews, Eric, Bobby, Christi, Laura, Tina, Tonya, Lesley, Heather, Rachel, Scott, Kimberly, Amanda, Brian, and Kenny; many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews; siblings-in-law, Danny Cundiff, Peter III, Lossie, Pauline (David), Victor (Ronda), and Joseph; nieces and nephews-in-law, Jessica, Colton, Beth, Jimmy, Lisa, Daniel, Keenan, Dina, and Angie; a very special friend/cousin, Ann Hyneman; and a special friend, Jane Richie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Fred Jr., Donnie Lasley, Judy (Lasley) Cundiff, Earnest Noble Lasley (Connie), and Linda Sue (Lasley) Moore (Ron); half-sister, Mary Ellen Lasley; parents-in-law, Pete Bajzath, Jr. and Anna (Kasa) Bajzath;and sisters-in-law, Kay Brown, Ellen Bajzath, and DeAnn Parker.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, December 20, 2025 from 10 to Noon at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton to celebrate Carol Jean’s life and wedding anniversary with John. A reception dinner will follow at Dick Clark's Family Restaurant in Princeton until 2:45 PM.
