Carolyn S. (Jones) Doane

Carolyn S. (Jones) Doane, 87, of Evansville, passed away Friday, August 28, 2026 at Bethel Manor in Evansville. She was born July 27, 1939 in Princeton to the late Arthur “Arch” Jones and Helen (Beloat) Jones and worked as a bus driver for Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation for about 25 years. Carolyn was a natural caregiver and babysat every child in her neighborhood. She was a member of Mill Road Baptist Church where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School for many years. She loved tending to her garden and was the greatest stay-at-home mother and grandma who would do anything for her family. She was dearly loved by so many and touched the lives of everyone around her.  

Carolyn is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Sharyl Doane of Evansville; daughter, Cathy Spence of McKinney, Texas; grandson, Josh Doane; and siblings, Loretta Mauck and Robert Jones.

Along with her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Harold Doane; brother, Larry Jones; half-brothers, Don Barber and Lawrence Barber; and grandson, Zack Spence.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Bethel Manor for taking such good care of Carolyn.
