Chad Russell Butts

Chad Russell Butts, 62, of Francisco passed away at his home with his family by his side on Monday, May 26, 2025. He was born January 11, 1963 and married the love of his life, Gerna (Johnson) Butts on April 12, 1985. There wasn’t anyone that he wouldn’t help and nothing he couldn’t fix. Any time day or night, he’d make things happen to help people. He was a man of many hats; a hero, life saver, Mr. fix-it, bus driver, one of a kind dad, “paps”, uncle, and loving husband. His kids and grandkids were his whole world.

Chad is survived by his wife of 40 years, Gerna Butts of Francisco; sons, Kyle Butts (Cheyanna) of Pike County and Joe Butts of Francisco; grandsons, Beau and Lee Butts; mother, Carolyn Butts of Princeton; siblings, Lynn Barrett (Jeff), Kathleen Johnson (Dave), Rusty Butts, Clint Butts (Michele), Kiko Salamie, and Eric Salamie (Amy); brother-in-law, Bill Johnson; special niece, Brittany Johnson (Grant Wessley) and a plethora of other nieces and nephews; special cousin, Jana Whitehead and several other cousins; and a special little friend, Gracie Bailey.

He was preceded in death by his father, Russell Butts; birth mother, Paulette Turpin Salamie; sister, Keagan Butts, sister-in-law, Penny Johnson; mother and father-in-law, George and Martha Johnson; grandma, Pauline Turpin Berliene; grandpa, Joe McEllhiney; and grandparents, Charles and Eleanor Clemens.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton officiated by Bruce Blaize and Tim Speedy. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Princeton. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday the 28th at the funeral home from 5 until 8:00 PM and Thursday from 9 AM until service time at the funeral home.
