CHARLES HERBERT BUSING, 86, of Punta Gorda, formerly of Mackey, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2023 at the Heritage Oaks Assisted Living in Englewood, FL. He was born May 5, 1937 in Mackey, to Herbert Frank and Marie Amy (Flack) Busing.
Charles had been a fulltime resident of Florida for the past 20 years. He graduated from Mackey High School, and joined U.S. Air Force in 1955, where he became a Radar Technician. He was a farmer on the family farm, which has been in his family for 120 years. He worked at Emge Meat Packing Co, as a meat packer, later a truck driver, retiring as a rural mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service.
Charles was a Life Member of the American Legion, a former member of the Moose and the Elks Lodge’s. He was an avid golfer, a former member of the Oakland City Country Club, and enjoyed playing golf while living in Florida. Charles enjoyed watching basketball, and was an avid fan of Indiana University Basketball. He also received the honor of being a Kentucky Colonel.
Charles is survived by his daughters, Robin Busing of San Diego, CA, Lisa Pavek (Ralph) of Englewood FL; sister, Wilma Miley of Mackey; three grandchildren, Christopher Woolsey, Kyle and Alexandria Pavek; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Brett Charles Busing.
The funeral service will be held 12 p.m. Monday, August 14, 2023, at the Mackey Salem Church in Mackey, with Pastor Matt Malin officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service time on Monday. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery near Mackey. Military graveside services will be provided by the Retired Military Veterans.
