Charles Goldbach, 88, of Evansville, IN formerly Princeton, IN was called Home Thursday, September 28, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 2, 1935 in Evansville, IN to the late Alfred and Margaret Rose Goldbach. Charles graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in 1955. Shortly after, he married the love of his life, JoAnn, and was blessed with 66 years of marriage. Charles worked as a butcher in his younger years at Emge Packing for 26 years. He also owned and operated Goldbach’s grocery store for 8 years. Charles then took a position for Gibson County Heath Department as a Health Inspector for 20 years. He was a member and attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Princeton, IN. Charles was a strong religious man who loved his church family. He played the guitar and sang at the church. Charles enjoyed traveling and taking family vacations. He liked pitching washers, playing online video games, playing golf, and visiting with friends. Charles was known to be a competitive guy; he took his game playing seriously and wouldn’t concede to even his children or grandchildren. Charles loved to watch his grandchildren play sports, teach them the best jokes, and making everyone laugh. He was loved by so many and will deeply be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Charles Matthew “Matt” Goldbach; grandson, Jeffrey Goldbach; granddaughter, Abigail Goldbach; great-grandson, Makayden Parris; siblings, Helen Arrick (Harold), Emily Cannon (Ernie), Lawrence Goldbach, Morris Goldbach, and Paul Goldbach.
Charles is survived by his wife, JoAnn Goldbach; son, Mike Goldbach (Jackie) with their daughter Julia West (James) and children Ashley, Jack, and Dylan; late son Jeffrey Goldbach and his children Lexi, Luke, and Matt; daughter, Kathy Wilderman (Rick) with their children Jennifer Parris (Jon) and children Mason, Maya, and the late infant Makayden; Carrie Johnson (Shane) and children Clayton, Weston, Audrey; Nikki Wallis (JR) with sons, Bobby and Brody; son, Kenny Goldbach (Robin) with their children, the late Abigail Goldbach; daughter, Krissy Marceaux (Jason) with their children Olivia, Ethan, Emma; Chase Goldbach (Kim) and children Vince and Lilly; and Austin Clark; daughter, Margaret Dunigan (Mike) with their children Stephen Minton and son Carter; Martin Woodrome (Emorie) and children Oliver and Elliot; daughter, Libby Decker (Chad) with their sons, Cameron Decker and Cole Decker; daughter-in-law, Mary Goldbach with her children Ryan Goldbach, Nathan Goldbach, Johnny Goldbach, and Freddy Goldbach; siblings, Virginia Chase and Thomas Goldbach (Linda); sister-in-law’s, Mary Lou Davis, and Eileen Goldbach; many nieces; nephews; and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 pm on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church 410 S. Race St. Princeton, IN with Father Gary Kaiser celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Princeton. Visitation will be from 10 am until service time at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church and School. Envelopes will be available at the church.
