Charles Satkamp Sr. Obituary

Charles Michael Satkamp Sr., 73, of Princeton, IN was called to his heavenly home Friday, September 5, 2025 at Linda E. White Hospice House. He was born October 27, 1951 in Princeton, IN to the late Charles L. “Lindy” Satkamp and Marianne (Boerke) Satkamp. Mike played baseball in his younger years until he was 15; he was known as the left-handed pitcher. Mike was in the 1969 graduating class of Princeton High School. After graduation he took a position at Princeton telephone company, which is now known as Frontier. Mike started as a line crewman until he moved up as an installer. He moved up again as a troubleshooter for homes and businesses to repair issues. Finally, Mike retired in 2005 as a cable and fiber optic splicer after 36 years of service. He was an avid weight lifter for 44+ years, and even competed in body building competitions. Mike married the love of his life, Donna (Sweppy) Satkamp, March 10, 1972 and was blessed with three children and 53 years together. He will be remembered as a loving father that coached his daughter’s softball team and his son’s basketball team. Mike enjoyed bowling in a league during younger years, spending time with family and friends, and watching TV. He especially enjoyed watching the Vikings football games, golf, and any college sports. Mike was passionate about riding his motorcycle with his wife whenever he could. They would take day trips and longer trips; such as going to the four corners out West and the thrilling curves of “Tail of the Dragon” near the Tennessee and North Carolina border. Mike was a member of Bethel Memorial Church in Princeton. He touched many people’s lives and will deeply be missed.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Michelle Tindle; and parents-in-law, Harold and Louise Sweppy.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Satkamp; children, Kimberly (Jonathan) Smith and Michael (Hannah) Satkamp Jr.; brother, Gregg Satkamp; grandchildren, Austin Dickerson, Keeley Dickerson, Quentin Tindle, Alexis Tindle, Katelyn Tindle, Asvin Satkamp, Gabriel Satkamp, Matthew Jonathan Roy (Mikayla) Smith, and Andrew Gene Morton Smith; siblings-in-law, Chuck Sweppy and Karen (Doug) Driskill; and kitty Callie, who snuck into his heart.
