Claire E. Burton

Claire E. Burton, 95, of Princeton, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2026 at RiverOaks Health Campus in Princeton. She was born October 27, 1930 in Malden, Massachusetts to the late Denzil and Eva (Barber) Wallace. Claire had lived in Princeton most of her life and was a homemaker.  In her earlier years she had worked as a nurse’s aide at Gibson General Hospital for several years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and gardening.

Claire is survived by her children, Ray Burton (Tina) of Princeton and Jan Johnson of Princeton; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and a brother, Denzil Wallace, Jr. of Massachusetts.

Along with her parents, Claire was preceded in death by her husband, Russell E. Burton; son, Russell E. Burton, Jr.; grandson Brian Burton; son-in-law, Stephen Johnson; and sisters, Jeanette Gail White and Nancy Wallace.

The funeral service will be held at noon on Monday, April 27, 2026 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Pastor Adam Drake officiating.  Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Princeton. Visiting hours will be held from 10 am until service time on Monday at the funeral home.
