Danny M. Smith

Danny Smith Obituary

Danny M. Smith, Sr., 72, of Princeton, passed away Monday, December 18, 2023 at his home in Princeton. He was born January  14, 1951 in Princeton to the late Dorris Smith and Mary Louise (Bennett) Smith and worked as a coal miner for over 30 years. Danny proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He was an avid lottery player and a “die-hard” Indiana University fan. When he was able, he enjoyed tinkering with cars and home renovations. Danny was loved dearly and will be missed.

Danny is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Mary Beth Smith of Princeton; children, Tami Smith of Virginia, Danny Smith, Jr., (Rebecca) of Kansas, David Smith (Heather) of Evansville, and Derek Smith of Vincennes; 15 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Fred Smith (Margie), Stacy Wilderman (Mike), Matt Smith (Brenda), and Angie Mattingly (Keith).

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Sherri Williams, Darrell Smith, and Georgann Schurmeier.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon Friday, December 22, 2023 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton officiated by Pastor Gene Burkhart. Visiting hours will be held from 10 AM until Noon Friday at the funeral home. Full military honors will be held at the funeral home by the Retired Military Veterans.
