Darell G. McDowell, 73 of Winslow passed away Thursday, March 5, 2020 at his home. He was born Oct. 26, 1946 in Oakland City, to James R. and Golda (Faries) McDowell.
Darell was a truck driver for 40 years last working for Tom Nass Trucking. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines serving during the Vietnam War. He had lived in Winslow for the past four years, having lived in Evansville for several years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, WWE Wrestling and dirt track racing.
Surviving are his wife Robin, children, Kaylee Bronson (Robert), Jacklynn Worley (Christopher) and James McDowell; bonus children, Marie Bently (Steven), Ashley Wallace (Calab) and Joseph Egan (Nicole), Josh Pruden (Sheena); grandchildren, Selena, Hannah, Savannah, Ellen, Joseph, Evan, Amber, Serenity, Anthony and Gabriel; siblings, Wayne McDowell (Donna), James McDowell, Sharon McDowell and Joann Mason (John); father-in-law, George Gootee; brother-in-law, Mike (Jaye) Gootee; sister-in-law, Leslie Gootee; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Virgina (Ginger) Gootee, brother-in-law.
There will be a Celebration of Life service, 2 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2020 at the New life Church, 4188 Wyntree Dr. Newburgh, IN with Pastor Jonathan Scott officiating. The Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City is assisting the family with arrangements.
