“Miss” Devona Rae Elliott, 94, of Princeton, Indiana passed away peacefully Friday, May 1, 2026 at River Oaks Health Campus. She was born August 6, 1931 to Azel Edison Smith and Beatrice (Shoultz) Smith. Devona graduated from Mt. Olympus High School. She married the love of her life, Duane Allen Elliott, October 6, 1950 and was blessed with nearly 44 years together before his passing July 31, 1994. Devona enjoyed home based crafting, painting, writing and working as a window dresser for JCPenny in Princeton. Devona was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church and the First General Baptist Church in Princeton, Indiana. Devona had a true servant’s heart and spent the majority of her free time volunteering for several of the church’s children’s programs including Sunday night fellowship, Cubby Bears, Good News Club, Shoe Box ministry and Celebrate Recovery. Devona truly enjoyed the simple things in life while taking nothing for granted. Her favorite hobbies included attending craft shows, tending to her flower gardens, watching the birds and reading the bible.
Devona will be remembered as a wonderful mom, loving grandma and caring aunt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Duane Allen Elliott; and son, Michael Duane.
Devona is survived by her daughter Devara Lyn Bartoy from Lake Orion, MI. and grandson, Alec Michael Bartoy from West Bloomfield, MI.
A private graveside service was held on Sunday May 3, 2026 at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Mt. Olympus, IN with Pastor Brad Keenan officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Samaritan’s Purse or First General Baptist Church in Princeton, Indiana.
