Dick Fowler Obituary

Dick L. Fowler, 87, of Hazleton, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2025 at Amber Manor Care Center in Petersburg, IN. He was born December 15, 1937 in Decker, IN to the late Stanley Fowler and Margaret (Dick) Fowler. Dick graduated from Decker High School in 1954 and proudly served in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman from 1955 to 1958. Shortly after, he married Barbara (Blaize) Fowler on June 16, 1962 and was blessed with 32 years of marriage before her passing in 1994. He had lived in rural Hazleton for a short time after living in Chandler but spending most of his life in Princeton, where he raised his family. Dick retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad as a Brakeman after 33 years of service. He was a member of United Transportation Union. Dick enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, watching IU sports, playing cards, and supporting the Cardinal’s Baseball team.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara Fowler; son, John Welch- Fowler; siblings, Peggy Driscoll, Thomas Purkieser, and William Joseph and Daniel Fowler.

Dick is survived by his children, Jay (Rhonda) Fowler of Derry, NH and Stanley (Robin) Fowler of Hazleton, IN; grandchildren, Danielle Hanna and Sarah Abramson; great-grandchildren, Harper, Hadley, and Miles.

A funeral service will be held at the graveside with military rites at 11 AM Thursday, September 25, 2025 at Decker Cemetery rural Patoka with Pastor Spencer Gaines officiating. Military Rites will be provided by the Retired Military Veterans.
