Donald Ray Kuester



Donald Ray Kuester, 86, passed away on January 31, 2021.  Don was born August 6, 1934 to Andrew & Helen Kuester in Evansville, IN. Don graduated from FJ Reitz High School in 1952. He served in the US Navy and Naval Reserves. In 1952, Donald married Betty Lemmons. They raised two children, Debbie and Mark in Henderson, Kentucky. 

Don worked for Sigeco, City of Henderson and Texas Eastern in Houston, Texas. 

In his retirement, Don and Betty lived for many years in Kuttawa, Kentucky where he enjoyed his hobbies including fishing, golfing, cooking, woodworking and spending time with his family. In 2011, Don and Betty moved back to Henderson to be closer to family. At this time, Popa began a new hobby of deer hunting with his son, grandchildren and great grandchildren in which they will always remember.

Donald is survived by his wife, Betty of Henderson, KY; daughter, Debbie & husband, Brent Welz of Newburgh, IN; son, Mark and wife, Donna Kuester of Henderson; brother, Gerald Kuester of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Derek Walker of Texas, Emily Welz of Indianapolis, IN, Allison & Carissa Welz of Newburgh, IN, Lee & Rick Carrier, Abby & William Nelson, Tori & Austin Parrish, all of Henderson; great grandchildren, Anna, Grant & Maggie Carrier, Kaleb, Karlee & Klaire Nelson, and Addison & Laken Parrish all of Henderson; nieces; nephews; brothers-in-law; & sisters-in-law.

Private family services will be held due to COVID-19 safety. Military rites will be provided by the Retired Military Veterans. The funeral service will be live streamed on the Colvin Funeral Homes Facebook page.
