Donald “Don” Lee McEllhiney, 84, of Princeton, passed away on Friday, January 8th 2021 at 5:45 AM at his home. Don was born July 10th 1936 in Princeton to the late Louis and Ruby (Ingle) McEllhiney. Don worked at Emge Packing Company for 42 years and was owner of McEllhiney and Son Tree Service. He graduated from Francisco High School in 1955 and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Princeton. He enjoyed bowling, Nascar, NFL football, going out to eat, and spending time with his family.
Don is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janice Sue McEllhiney; daughter, Ramona McEllhiney; son, Mark McEllhiney; granddaughter, Amber Hagan (Cory); great-granddaughter, Ellie Hagan; brother, Mike McEllhiney (MaryLou); sisters, Debbie Conklin (Kenny) and Cathy McEllhiney; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, LaDonne (Sloan); step-father, Gene Dillon; and brother, Dan McEllhiney.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Jim Saunders officiating. Interment will follow at Decker Cemetery north of Princeton. A visitation will be held from 5 until 8:00 PM Monday, January 11, 2021 at Colvin Funeral Home. Per COVID-19 restrictions, a maximum of 25 people is allowed at any gathering, social distancing and facial coverings are required; and seating will be limited. A live broadcast will be hosted on facebook.com/colvinfuneralhomes around the service hour Tuesday for those who cannot be present.
