Donnie Gene Coleman, 86, of Owensville, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at Transcendent Healthcare in Owensville. He was born December 11, 1937 in Owensville to Paul Dye and Ermadell (Callis) Coleman.
Donnie lived in Owensville all of his life. He graduated from Owensville High School in 1956 then went to serve his country in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. Donnie continued to serve in the Army Reserves until 1962. Donnie also worked for Emge Packing Company 27 years as a meat smoker. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Owensville.
Donnie is survived by his wife of 66 years, Doris Coleman, to whom he married August 1, 1958; daughter, LaDonna Ann Johnson (Tracy) of Owensville; son, Jeffrey Don Coleman (Barbara) of Princeton; grandchildren, Jessica Marvell, Tracie Jones, Jamie Krug, and Cole Johnson; 9 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Sharon Coleman of Haubstadt and Betty Coleman of Owensville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Harold and Richard Coleman.
A funeral service for Donnie will be held at the graveside in the Owensville Cemetery, 4 p.m. Sunday, October 27, 2024 with Pastor Bart Newton officiating. Burial will follow the services. Visitation will be from 1:30 until 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the First Christian Church near Owensville. Retired Military Veterans will provide military graveside services. The Colvin Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church, 4680 W SR 168 Owensville, IN 47665 or to Heart-to-Heart Hospice, 2532 Waterbridge Way, Evansville, IN 47710. Envelopes will be available at the Church.
