Doris Nell (Laster) Greer, 87, of Princeton, passed away Friday, January 24, 2025 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh surrounded in love by her family. She was born July 18, 1937 to the late Willie B. Laster and Marie (Hunt) Laster. Doris was an Educator graduating from Bishop College in Texas, which Martin Luther King Jr. provided her commencement address. She married Norman Greer on December 20, 1959. Doris committed her life’s work to supporting, helping and loving special needs individuals starting at Krissy Kay School and continuing on to Gibson County ARC for 47 years. She gave freely to her family, community, and anyone that graced her life. Doris was a very prominent figure at Wayman Chapel AME Church and the Lyles Station Community for over 60 years. The center of her being was her love for God and pouring into those around her, touching them in so many ways, especially musically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Doris is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Norman Greer, brother, Robert Laster (Jane); daughters, Priscilla Richardson (Clarence), Connie Vaughn (Gary), Denise Jamerson (John), Teresa Burks (Reginald), and Paula Stanfield (Derrick); her special daughter, Rita Kay Glover; 2 step children, Holly Achille (Nick) and Clint Greer; grandchildren, Wiliam Paris, Kochman Harris, Aaron Molake, Jamal Molake, Rasheed Molake, Makayla Jackson, Xavier Stewart, Taeya Johnson, DeAnthony Jamerson, Jayson Jamerson, Zackaree Nebe, Hannah Wallace, Jaide Boner, and Zane Boner; 21 great-grandchildren; and a multitude of special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Norma Jackson and Nona Kay Greer; sister, Mary Helen Daniels; and a brother, Vernon Laster.
The funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton. Visiting hours will be held from 11 until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Sand Hill Cemetery near Lyles Station.
