Doris O. Roney, 89, of Princeton, passed away Monday, June 20, 2022 at RiverOaks Health Campus in Princeton. She was born October 22, 1932 in Petersburg to the late James A. Dunn and Alice M. (Lewis) Dunn and retired working at Pearson’s Band Shop. She worked for Potter and Brumfield for 30 years as a relay builder and was proud to have relays used all over the country from train switches to NASA equipment. She was a member of Broadway Christian Church and was always there serving in church activities. She enjoyed decorating the church, fish fries, and rummage sales. She also enjoyed being part of the marching band in the 80's. In her later years, she spent her time sitting on the back porch swinging and spending time with her beloved granddaughter, Hannah who she referred to as “Ladybug”. She was loved deeply and will be missed.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Amy Scamman (Andrew) of Fort Branch; son, Thomas “Tom” Roney (Debbie) of Patoka; granddaughter, Hannah Scamman; special niece, Melissa Johnson; nephews, Neil and Mark Johnson, and several other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, DeeAnn Roney; son, George "Dane" Roney; and siblings, Claude Dunn, Floyd Dunn, Beatrice Farrow, and Emmajean Johnson.
A visitation will be held Monday morning June 27, 2022 from 9:30 until 11:30 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton. A Funeral will be held at 11:30 Monday at the funeral home officiated by Reverend John Dunn. Interment will follow at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg.
