Dortha Fortner Obituary

Dortha M. Fortner, 92, of Princeton, passed away Sunday, October 10, 2021 at Transcendent Healthcare of Owensville. She was born December 4, 1928 in West Frankfort, IL to the late J. B. and Goldie Carter. Dortha retired in 1992 from the former Potter & Brumfield in Princeton, where she had worked for 34 years. She attended the Patoka United Methodist Church and held membership in the Golden Fleece Chapter No. 176 Order of Eastern Star, American Legion Post No. 25 Ladies Aux., and Lady Elks all of Princeton and V.F.W. Post No. 2714 Ladies Aux. in Fort Branch.

Dortha is survived by her 3 children, Marsha Kreitenstein (Bill) of Evansville, Vicki Hoover (Jack) of Patoka and Gary Fortner (Susan) of Vincennes; 5 grandchildren, Kelly Wheatley (John), Ian Kreitenstein (Emily), Emilee Kreitenstein, Nicole Fortner (Bart) and Michael Fortner (Tempa); and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60+ years, Kenneth L. Fortner on December 14, 2007; 2 granddaughters, Amy Leann Hoover and Natalie Mae Bratcher; and a brother, Richard Carter.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Pastor Ricky Simpson officiating. Interment will follow at Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton. Visitation will be from 1 pm until the service hour on Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or at stjude.org. Envelopes will also be available at Colvin’s.
