Doyin Knowles Barrett, 77, of Princeton, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2020. He was born June 15, 1943 in Evansville, Indiana to Ben and Annabelle (Sokeland) Barrett. He grew up in Owensville, Indiana with seven siblings. He married his wife Patricia in 1965 and moved to Princeton.
He was a member of the New Life Church of the Nazarene in Princeton. He drove a school bus for North Gibson School Corporation for over 40 years retiring in 2019. He owned, trained, and raced harness horses for 50 years and had a love for coon hunting. He was an avid Princeton Tigers fan with a strong love for boys' and girls’ basketball.
He was preceded in death by his parents; half siblings, Gene, Jenelyn, and Bennie; and brothers, Ronald and Gary.
Doyin is survived by his wife, Patricia Barrett; two sons, Jeff and Brett; siblings, Harold (JoAnn), Karon, Connie (Riley), Kenny (Sandy), and Kent; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at New Life Church of the Nazarene in Princeton officiated by Pastor Andrew Johnson and Donnie Truelock. Interment will follow at Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton. A walk-through visitation will be held beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Tuesday at the church. Due to COVID-19 mandates, capacity inside church is limited to 50 people at a time to allow for social distancing and masks are required.
For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the boys' and girls' basketball teams at Princeton Community High School, c/o PCHS Athletic Office, 1101 N.
