Edward Ziller Obituary

Edward Alec Ziller, 72 of Princeton, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at the Gibson General Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit in Princeton. Ed was born in 1946 to Silvio and Pauline Ziller (Grivetti) in East Chicago, Indiana. He graduated from Bishop Noll Catholic High School and went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from Indiana University and his Master’s Degree in Education from Indiana State University.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus in Princeton, and the Indiana Teachers Association.

Ed was a U.S. History teacher and coach at Princeton Community High School for 32 years, retiring in 2001. Ed started the wrestling program in PCHS and coached football. He taught many students and developed life-long friendships in the North Gibson School Corporation.

Ed was an avid sports fan, always loyal to I.U. Hoosiers and of course, his beloved Chicago Cubs, who he finally saw win a World Series in 2016, which nearly killed him then! He also enjoyed reading, fishing, gardening and attending his grandkids sporting events, especially wrestling meets for Max and Zach. Ed also cherished his annual visits with friends Terry Kelly and Dennis Cummins, spent fishing and reminiscing about old times.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Betty Ziller; and a sister, Norma Irk.

Ed is survived by his loving children; son, Christopher Ziller (Janine), and his children, Madison, Max and Zach; daughter, Carra Meuth (Mike), and their children, Regan, Mason and Mitchell; brother-in-law, John Irk; aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews. Also, his extended Aigner family in Boonville, where he always celebrated holidays and special days.

A very special thank you to Ed’s friends and neighbors that helped with transportation to appointments and treatments during his 5-year battle with cancer, and to Jerry Banet for his daily visits. Also thanks to Gibson General Hospital 5th floor and Southern Care Hospice for their loving care of our Dad and Papa.
