Edward "Ed" Miller Obituary

Edward “Ed” Ray Miller, 76, of Princeton, passed away Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes. He was born July 9, 1945 in Jackson, Michigan and enlisted at a young age in the United States Navy. He spent 4 years serving as a machinist mate stationed in Norfolk, Virginia and touring the Bahamas and worked for over 30 years as a conductor for Norfolk Southern Rail Road. Ed also served as a Mason, a Shriner, and was very active in the NRA. He enjoyed riding motorcycles for the last 30 years with his wife as late as this past September. Their trips were cross country on the Honda Goldwing. Ed was noted for his humor, wit, and strong will. He loved his family gatherings and took 6 kids under his wing at an early age, all who fought over who was his favorite. He had a big heart and always had a story ready to tell. Ed will be missed, which is an understatement to those who knew and loved him.

Ed is survived by his wife of 30 years, Elaine Miller; children, Carrie Richeson, Angie Dright, Julie Ambrose (Chris), Natalie Carey, and Chad Dawson; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, David Miller (Rhonda); and friend, Dennis Gambrel who Ed dedicated his Saturday motorcycle rides to.

He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Dorothy and Charlie Fleener; son, Todd Dawson; sister, Mary Jo Miller; and mother and father-in-law, Margaret and Ralph Gilmore.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton officiated by Ed’s brother, David Miller. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Princeton with full military honors given by members of the Retired Veterans Association. A visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
